From our friends at the Dogpatch Neighborhood Association:

SFMTA’s Slow Streets Program has finally arrived in Dogpatch and Potrero Hill! This phase of the roll out includes Minnesota St. from Mariposa to 22nd Street, Arkansas from 23rd to 17th streets, and an extension of the existing Mariposa Slow Street from Texas to Mississippi.

Slow Streets are designed to reduce through traffic and slow local traffic in residential neighborhoods during the coronavirus outbreak and improve access to essential services for everyone including pedestrians and cyclists.  Slow Streets are still open for local traffic and driveway access and our local businesses are most certainly open for business.

The Dogpatch Neighborhood Association, Potrero Boosters and PREFund have scheduled two socially distanced events to promote Slow Streets and are looking for volunteers and participants:

Secure our Slow Streets
Saturday, October 24th
10am to Noon

Help the Dogpatch community improve the overall safety and useability of our Slow Streets, by installing additional signage, chalk stencils, etc. Meet at the Northeast Corner of Esprit Park (19th and Minnesota St.) for a socially distanced work event.

Spooky Slow Street Stroll
Friday, October 30th
4pm until 7pm

Take a socially distanced Halloween tour of our Slow Streets in Dogpatch - costumes are optional but welcome!

This event complies with SF Halloween Guidance and scheduled on Friday to avoid crowds. This is not a gathering, but a way for us to celebrate Halloween (and our slow streets) while socially distanced.

Residents along Minnesota St. are encouraged to decorate and consider having candy/treats available. Get creative with your socially distanced candy distribution: we’re thinking candy chutes, canons, or some Mardi Gras-style flinging.
