Friends of Esprit Park Newsletter - Sept.5th, 2025 Welcome Back OG’s! Welcome New members!! Friends of Esprit Park - In recovery mode. Let’s get busy! And don’t miss all the fun tomorrow at Jackson Park! We did it!! Thank you all for 7 years of hard work getting the $8million Esprit Park Rehab project fully funded and over the finish line. Thank you Dan Bernal, UCSF V.Chancellor, Community & Gov’t Relations, and Supervisor Shamann Walton, D10, for your support and that of your teams in helping the Dogpatch community navigate this project to completion. Your individual recognitions of FoEP during the Esprit Park Opening were much appreciated flowers on a perfectly beautiful day! Wondering why things have been a bit quiet since Esprit Park re-opened in February? Sadly, all of our funds went up in smoke with the implosion of our former fiscal sponsor/bank - SF Parks Alliance. Funding help may be on the way so let’s start planning! Raise your hand if you want to get more involved (@Fury!) Send us your ideas. As thought starters, check out our previous activities. Volunteers for our regular work/weeding parties (refreshments provided). The ground cover may be brand new but surprise! Harmful grass species have already shown up. Docent tours of the Park - from trees and flowers to custom bird houses and play/seating structures. We’ll get the experts. You sign up for the tours. We’ll have refreshments to sustain you on the walkabout. Puppies and Toddlers training workshop (and yes, lunch provided)
No $$$? We stayed focused. Sprinkler issues flooding the south meadow? FoEP raised the alarm. Sprinkler issues flooding in the north meadow? FoEP raised the alarm. SF RecPark thanked us for alerting them (sent via SF311) to these issues while the construction work is still under warranty. Member Ask - Please download the San Francisco 311 app so you too can ‘say something when you see something’. A win for inclusion (and following the law)! Spurred by FoEP advocacy, in March 2025 RecPark overruled their own signage for Esprit Park ‘Dog Free Zones’ with signage welcoming neighbors who have service and support animals to enjoy the Park. Thanks to everyone who emailed your support of inclusiveness to RecPark and S. Walton’s office. Update on the UCSF Corner Market retail space! UCSF Real Estate has signed a lease with Lotus Corner Market. It’s scheduled to open this winter. Don’t miss the fun at Jackson Park!
